What does "Fees/Surrender Charges" mean on my statement?

The fee is associated with the income benefit you purchased with your annuity and is subtracted from the value of your contract on each contract anniversary. To see the year-to-date accumulated fee, log in to your contract at www.riversource.com and go to 'Contract Details.' Look under 'Withdrawal Amounts,' 'Other Charges.' This is the charge that would be assessed if you were to surrender your contract on that business day.
