Applying for Insurance Coverage

We make the experience of applying for insurance coverage simple and convenient. After you fill out your insurance application, some additional information may be necessary for the underwriting of your application. The particular information depends on the type of product you selected and the amount of coverage you requested.

What to expect when you apply for insurance coverage

A medical interviewer will contact you.

A few days after we receive your application, an experienced medical interviewer will call you for a 15- to 20-minute phone interview. The interviewer will ask you questions about your medical history. He or she may ask you to confirm additional information, such as your income and occupation.

For the interview, you'll need to provide:

  • Your Social Security number
  • Name, address and telephone number of your primary physician
  • Names of the medications you regularly take

A paramedical exam may be required.

If you're asked to schedule an appointment with one of our preferred examiners, he or she will come to your home or office at a time that's convenient for you. The examiner will measure your height, weight, blood pressure and pulse. You may also be asked to provide a blood and urine specimen and/or take an electrocardiogram.

We keep your medical history confidential.

We respect your privacy. Any information you or your physician provide over the phone, during the exam or in the mail becomes part of our confidential underwriting process.

Underwriting decisions are made as soon as the necessary information is received.

We know how important it is to get the coverage you need. We'll contact your financial professional as soon as there's a decision about your application.
