The RiverSource® Advanced AlphaSM funds are alternative-type investments designed to deliver competitive returns to individual investors. Derived from strategies used by leading institutional investors for decades, these funds are designed to produce enhanced levels of alpha – a risk-adjusted measure of above-market returns. When combined with other traditional stock and bond holdings, these funds may help improve the overall risk-reward profile of your portfolio.

You should consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of a mutual fund carefully before investing. The RiverSource 120/20 Contrarian Equity Fund and RiverSource 130/30 U.S. Equity Fund may make short sales, which involves selling a security the Fund does not own in anticipation that the securities price will decline. The Fund's potential losses could exceed those of other mutual funds which hold only long security positions if the value of the securities held long decrease and the value of the securities sold sort increase. The Fund's use of short sales in effect "leverages" the Fund, as the Fund intends to use the case proceeds from the short sales to invest in additional long securities. Leveraging potentially exposes the Fund to greater risks due to unanticipated market movements, which may magnify losses and increase volatility of returns. There is no assurance that a leveraging strategy will be successful. See the Fund's prospectus for information on these and other risks associated with the Fund.
The RiverSource Absolute Return Currency and Income Fund is designed for investors with an above average risk tolerance. Risks associated with the fund include, but are not limited to, derivatives risk, counterparty risk, interest rate risk, credit risk, and tax risk. A significant portion of the Fund is invested in forward currency contracts, which are subject to a number of risks. Gains and losses may be substantial if prices do not move in the direction anticipated. See the Fund's prospectus for information on these and other risks associated with the Fund. Investment products, including shares of mutual funds, are not federally or FDIC-insured, are not deposits or obligations of, or guaranteed by any financial institution, and involve investment risks including possible loss of principal and fluctuation in value. Investing in certain funds involves special risk, such as those related to investments in foreign securities, small- and mid-capitalization stocks, fixed income securities (especially high-yield securities), and funds which focus their investments in a particular sector, such as real estate, technology and precious metals.
