Gumer Alvero serves as President of the Wealth Management Products and Solutions group, where he is responsible for delivering a comprehensive set of solutions to clients, including brokerage, advisory, retail and retirement, as well as managing relationships with all third-party product providers.
 

Gumer also has management responsibility for RiverSource Insurance and Annuity product lines. He and his team oversee the end-to-end experience for Ameriprise clients and advisors, spanning product development and management, sales and marketing programs, and new business and inforce service.
 

Gumer has been with the company more than 30 years, most recently as President – Insurance & Annuities. Prior to that, he held a variety of roles within Ameriprise Financial, including:

• President, RiverSource Insurance & Annuities, 2022-2026
• Executive Vice President and General Manager, RiverSource Insurance & Annuities, 2021 – 2022
• Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Annuity Products Group, 2006 – 2021
• Vice President and Managing Director, Annuity Products Group, 1998 – 2006
• Executive Assistant to President/CEO of American Express Financial Corp., 1996 – 1998
• Program Director in the Financial Institutions Group, AEFC, 1994 – 1996
• Financial Analyst roles across Corporate Planning and Analysis, Mutual Fund Product Group and Retirement Services, 1989 – 1994

In addition, Gumer is a voting member of the Ameriprise Risk Management Committee and currently serves on the boards of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, American Enterprise Investment Services, Inc. and American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). He previously served on boards for RiverSource Distributors, Inc., RiverSource Life Insurance Co. of New York and RiverSource Life Insurance Company.

Gumer holds a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree, both from Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
